Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak was named among the top 60 hospitals in the nation for its outstanding orthopedic program by Becker's Hospital Review.
Beaumont was included on this list based on exhibiting excellence in orthopedics, quality of service, outstanding local and national reputations and high volume of orthopedic cases. Beaumont's Implant Retrieval and Analysis section is one of the largest joint implant libraries in the country, containing more than 4,300 specimens to help physicians and scientists research wear patterns and device failures.
The department of orthopedic surgery includes 40 specialists and subspecialists board-certified in orthopedics. Beaumont has 16 dedicated orthopedic operating room suites with the state-of-the art technology. The orthopedic unit is a 100 bed unit with an additional 14 beds for in-patient rehab. The unit also has a dedicated Joint Replacement unit for patients undergoing shoulder, elbow, ankle, knee and hip replacements.
The unit received disease specific certification from The Joint Commission for Total Knee and Total Hip replacements. Patients receive Physical and Occupational therapy in the gym conveniently located on the unit. The department also has a fully accredited residency program and fellowship programs in joint reconstruction, shoulder, spine and sports medicine.
